'My Evening Through Morning' with Shaun Greenblo, Boody CEO

You may already be familiar with Boody, an Australian eco brand that creates ultra-comfy, everyday essentials crafted from organically-grown bamboo. Their soft, simple and classic pieces have made them increasingly become a household name in the sustainable lifestyle space and their bamboo intimates also recently featured on the beautiful models in our 'Face Forward' campaign shoot. If you don't know enough about Boody, check out their organically-grown bamboo essentials.

We took a moment to chat with their CEO, Shaun Greenblo, to get a peek inside what the evening and morning routines of a father, husband, entrepreneur and businessman look like, including how he takes care of his body and mind around a such a busy lifestyle.

What is your evening beauty/self-care protocol?

After I’ve put my young boys to sleep (three months and 17 months) at around 7pm, I make dinner with my wife and often have half a glass of red wine, enjoying the peace and quiet. I always enjoy a hot shower as the last thing I do before bed, making sure I moisturise my face and hands afterwards.

What are your must-have items in your bedroom?

A glass of water next to my bed. Soft, clean linen sheets. My alarm clock! I get up every morning around 5am to exercise.

Our next question was going to be what’s the first thing you do upon waking, which you’ve just answered!

Correct! My alarm goes off at 5am each morning. I wake, wash my face and brush my teeth and head out for my exercise so I can be home to be with my boys for an hour before dropping my eldest at daycare and going to work.

What do you have for breakfast and why?

I generally only have breakfast at around 9:30 when I get to work as my mornings are very full. I mix it up – often some fruit, toast, yoghurt or eggs. I derive a lot of joy from food and my wife and I are very conscious about the food we put into our bodies.

Morning beauty/self-care routine?

The first hour and a half of my morning is about me time, as my two young boys keep me very busy! As I’ve mentioned, I exercise first thing every morning – something every day, it doesn’t matter what it is. Yoga, running, swimming, surfing, HIIT classes. I like to mix it up!

Once home I enjoy a hot shower (my last 10 minutes to myself before the day starts) before moisturising my face and hands (especially this time of year because the cold dries my skin out). I only shave once a week on a Monday morning as I like having stubble (and I’m lazy).

What’s your best kept wellness/beauty secret when you need an extra boost?

Honestly, exercise is just as much about my mental health as it is my physical health. For me, keeping fit and healthy is also the secret to good skin.

How do you prepare your work day?

I am definitely a type A personality, so like to have my priorities set before I delve into my work. I spend the first 10 minutes of my day categorising projects into priority and small/medium/large tasks. I then go go go.

I’m a big proponent of the use of technology for greater efficiency and assisting managing my time.

What is your mid-morning pick me up?

I have my first and only coffee at around 10am each morning. It’s a ritual that I love, but I don’t rely on it for a pick me up. I skip it sometimes when I feel like I’m getting too addicted.
