Bright-Eyed: 6 Tips for A Youthful & Radiant Eye Area
The eye area can be more delicate than the rest of the skin, which is why it is often the first place on the face to reflect fine lines and wrinkles. It also contains a lower number of natural oil glands which is why it may dry out a little more than the rest of the face. Plus, lifestyle factors and genetics can contribute to dark circles and puffiness forming beneath your peepers. The solution? Using inside-out beauty methods to provide intense hydration, reduce excess fluid and brighten the area.
Read on to discover 6 of our favourite tricks to staying bright-eyed...
1. Coffee is your friend.
Fluid retention commonly occurs under the eye area resulting in thicker more prominent capillaries which manifests as dark circles. To combat dark circles and puffy eye use a cream containing botanicals which shift fluid such as coffee extract. This help to reduce the appearance of puffy eyes. Find it in our & Gold Rush Eye Cream
2. It's all in the application.
To assist the absorption of your eye cream and to shift any lingering fluid tilt your head upwards when using your eye cream and use your pinky or ring finger and a gentle dabbing motion, starting from your inner eye to outer eye area.
3. Use your mother’s tricks.
Cucumbers are a fabulous tool to refresh and de-puff eyes. It is a simple as popping them on shut eyes for at least 20 minutes. We are fans of multi-masking and encourage using a natural sheet mask at the same time. Cold tea also work wonders. Steep two bags of tea as you would normally if you were going to drink the tea. Then squeeze out the excess liquid. Allow them to cool down so they're warm, or chill them in the refrigerator for 10 to 20 minutes. Apply the tea bags to closed eyes for 15 to 30 minutes. We use our No.1 Green Goddess Detox tea for this and create our own tea bags using these filter bags.
4. Boost hydration.
If you are needing that extra brightness and hydration consider using our & Snowflower Illuminating Face Oil as an eye oil. Apply as you do your eye cream, gently dabbing (not rubbing or pulling) under your eye area.
5. Embrace eye-massaging.
If you have some extra time on your sleeve try a tapping eye massage which stimulates blood flow and lymph drainage around the eye area. Start by massaging between your eyebrows, to gently relieve the tension between your eyebrows. Smooth away frown lines. Then make small movements across your brow line from the inside of your brow to the outside. Then sweep across your brow line. With less pressure make small movements underneath your eye along the bone. Then sweeps. Finish by gently massaging your temples.
6. Mind what you eat.
Take care to limit foods high in salt, histamines and even wheat and alcohol which may be causing puffiness around the eye area. If you are suffering from dark circles, check your iron and vitamin D levels which may be needing attention.
