Drinking MORE water won’t hydrate your skin – Here’s 6 things that will!

Fine lines, flakiness and irritation, a dull complexion and skin that lacks bounce are all signs that you’re dehydrated. On the inside, dehydration can manifest as headaches, mid-afternoon fatigue, and poor digestion, to name a few!

We know how important it is to be drinking enough water, but what happens when you chug down litres of water each day, and you’re still feeling, and seeing the effects of dehydration on your skin?

The truth is, whilst water intake is incredibly important not just for your skin health, but for your general health and wellbeing, too, drinking more water isn’t always the answer to a bouncier, dewier complexion. Luckily, I have 6 tried and tested hacks for upping the skin’s hydrations levels, naturally and quickly, that doesn’t involve drinking more water!

6 inside & out hydration hacks – that don’t involve drinking more water

Outside hydration hacks for plumper skin

1. Add 3 drops of & Illuminating Snowflower Face Oil to your Cleansing Milk

Adding a few drops of & Snowflower Illuminating Face Oil to your No.1 Belle Frais Cleansing Milk before applying to your face pops a burst of extra hydration into your cleansing routine, leaving your skin feeling soft and supple, whilst adding some additional support to your cleansing game, with the oils helping to break down and emulsify the day’s dirt and grime.

Bonus tip – always rinse off your cleanser with lukewarm/tepid water, never hot water! The extreme temperatures can throw off the skins balance, leading to moisture loss and dehydration.

2. Use a mixed molecular weight Hyaluronic Acid (HA)

Using a low molecular weight HA may not be moving the needle on your skin’s hydration. Using a combination of low and medium molecular weight HA (as we do in all of our serums) ensures that you are giving your skin a surge of hydration into the deeper layers (thanks to the low molecular weight molecules) as well as ensuring the top layers of your skin are kept dewy and bouncy (the job of the medium molecular weight molecules).

Bonus tip – always apply your HA products to damp skin!

3. Use your Repair Crème as a hydration mask

Have you ever used your Coco Bliss Intensive Repair Crème as a moisture mask? Applying a thick layer for 15 minutes is an easy way to instantly hydrate thirsty skin. Nourishing organic fatty acids such as Camellia Seed Oil, Shea Butter and Babassu Oil found in the formulation are carried through the top layers of the skin for instant replenishing action.

4. Drink your Hyaluronic Acid

Our bodies naturally product Hyaluronic Acid, however just like collagen our natural HA stores are depleted as we age. A decline in HA stores leads to dry skin, wrinkles, dullness, weak hair, and hurting joints. “Drinking” Hyaluronic Acid orally through a supplement can improve skin repair and rejuvenation whilst also supporting joint lubrication.

You will find an incredible 3 grams of HA per tablespoon of our Complexion Protein+ Powder! Drink it daily for wonderful skin hydration benefits from the inside-out.

5. Make your water work harder

Electrolytes are key to proper hydration, and are responsible for directing water the areas in your body (and skin) that need it most! Make you water work harder for you by boosting it with a tablespoon of Aloe Vera or a touch of Lime juice. Both contain Natural Vitamin C and electrolytes which aid cellular hydration from the inside-out.

6. Don’t forget Omega.’s

The fatty acids in omega-3 help keep the membranes of your cells healthy and strong. Cell membranes not only keep out harmful materials, but they also keep elements like water and nutrients in. Healthy membranes mean well-nourished and well-hydrated skin cells, which translates to softer, moisturised, and healthier skin!

Where can you find omega-3? Foods high in omega-3 include walnuts, hemp seeds, flaxseeds, chia seed and avocados. If you have trouble getting enough omega-3 in your diet, use a hemp seed oil or flaxseed oil capsule.

We love Aussie made 13Seeds Hemp Seed Oil capsules, complete with 1000 mg of hemp seed oil and 170 mg of omega 3 per capsule! Your skin, hair and joints will thank you for the Omega Boost.
