Finally dispelling the myths about Hyaluronic Acid

If you use skincare, you would know about the benefits of Hyaluronic Acid (HA), the trending beauty ingredient known for its plumping and youth-boosting benefits.

As HA has become increasingly buzz-worthy, so too have a few myths about this trending ingredient! We are here to spill the tea on all things Hyaluronic Acid and debunk some of these myths once and for all – so you can finally go forth and achieve that dewy, bouncy skin without hesitation.

6 things you need to know before using Hyaluronic Acid

Myth #1 – Hyaluronic Acid can draw out moisture, causing more dryness

False! You may be using the product wrong!

HA works as a humectant, meaning it draws moisture from its environment. This is why we always recommend applying HA to damp skin. Spritz your skin with our Toner Mist or ensure skin is left slightly damp after cleansing before applying your serum.

Myth #2 – A higher percentage of Hyaluronic Acid equals better results

False! Less is more when it comes to HA

Opt for formulas containing no more than 2% of Hyaluronic Acid. In most scenarios, formulas with a higher percentage become too gluggy with penetration of the ingredient becoming less effective.

Myth #3 – Not all Hyaluronic Acid is created equal

We use both a low and medium molecular weight to ensure the skin’s surface becomes pillowy and bouncy, whilst also ensuring the deeper layers of the skin are hydrated.

What’s more, we use a plant-derived HA making it 100% vegan and cruelty-free!

Myth #4 – Hyaluronic Acid is incredible for anti-ageing so you should use it in every product!

Both true, and false!

It is true that HA is incredible for plumping and relieving fine lines, however, don’t become too obsessed. Stick to serums and moisturisers as this super-ingredient won’t add much value to your cleanser or exfoliant!

Myth #5 – Hyaluronic Acid is for topical skincare only

We love using Hyaluronic Acid internally to hydrate the skin from the inside-out, and promote healthy joints and connective tissue! Try it in our Complexion Protein+ Powder

Myth #6 – Hyaluronic Acid is not a team player

HA may work wonderfully on it’s own, but when paired with natural Vitamin C the two ingredients work as a tag team to brighten and hydrate at the same time. Hello youthful glow!

We use both Hyaluronic Acid and naturally derived Vitamin C from Australian Kakadu Plum in our No.3 Exotic Goddess Ageless Serum for the ultimate plumping, brightening and glow-giving serum.
