Five Reasons Why We Get A Rush Out of Gold

When it comes to gold in skincare, all that glitters is really gold! Gold is one of my favourite ingredients when it comes to anti-ageing and brightening. It has been used for centuries as an anti-ageing and rejuvenating skincare ingredient. Empresses in China used crushed gold to restore their complexion, Cleopatra bathed in gold and Geishas rubbed gold on their skin for radiance.
Gold leaf has some incredible benefits when it comes to skincare and illuminating the under-eye area. It was specifically chosen as a feature ingredient in our & Gold Rush Eye Cream as it imparts radiance, aids in the reduction of fine lines and wrinkles and enhances circulation to the eye area. The delicate area under the eyes has less oil glands and is more delicate than other parts of the face, hence requires ultra-nourishing, gentle yet therapeutic care.

Pure gold adds a touch of luxury to eye cream application as well which we are always in favour of!  In the post below we provide a few more reasons why we get a rush out of gold.
1. Collagen Boost.
Gold has a high bio-availability which means that it is quickly absorbed by the skin. When it is absorbed it effectively creates a reservoir within the skin that fights the breakdown of collagen and skin proteins, slowing the natural depletion of collagen as we age.
Gold works as a potent antioxidant, fighting off free radicles and inhibiting the negative effect of external stressors. It does this by the preventing the creation of molecules called AGEs (Advanced Glycation End Products) which are the enemy when it comes to ageing as they cause the loss of skin elasticity. Gold molecules bind onto AGE clusters instead of sugar/carbohydrate molecules which deactivates the AGEs and prevents them causing their destructive effects on the skin.
Gold also has a unique ability to stimulate skin cell electrons which are sensitive to electric charge thereby restoring cellular connections and stimulating the healing and rejuvenating skin cells. It stimulates cellular growth of the basal layer of the skin which provides a visible tightening effect on the skin.
2. Luminosity.
Gold boosts circulation to the skin cells which equates to enhanced skin vitality, health and luminosity. Given it is readily absorbed by the skin cells, it dissolves quickly into the skin, creating a shimmery tone and immediately reflects light. Anecdotally we have many women reporting on the luminosity of their eyes after using our eye cream. It is also assists other ingredients to more readily penetrate the skin barrier which further improves its ability to illuminate.

3. Skin Cell Turnover Boost.
Ions in gold molecules assist in stimulating skin cells, thereby encouraging skin cell turnover. I like to describe this as metabolically boosting the skin on a cellular level, which improves skin tightness, tone, waste removal and repair, which is not dissimilar to the positive effects which result from giving our body's metabolism a boost.
4. Inflammation Reduction.
Interestingly, gold has been used medically to reduce inflammation in auto-immune conditions such as Rheumatoid Arthritis.  The anti-inflammatory benefits of gold translate to more anti-ageing benefits.  It reduces the appearance of dark spots and age spots by slowing the production of pigmentation. Gold also enhances skin cell oxygenation which promotes skin healing, fights bacteria formation and reduce acne flare-ups.
5. Daily Luxury.
Gold is associated with feelings of love, rarity and luxury. We love being able to indulge in affordable luxury with our skincare. A daily touch of gold literally adds a bright spark to every morning.
