6 Naturopathic Tips for healthy, glowing skin – post festive season

With social events, entertaining and beach visits on our agendas, if there is ever a time that we want to be sparkling with youth and vitality, it is during the holiday season!

The excess sugar, increase in alcohol consumption, lack of sleep and increased exposure to the sun and skin-damaging pollutants can make it a challenge to maintain our healthy glow at this time of the year.

Below I provide 6 naturopathic inside out beauty tips to help your skin radiate with luminosity and vibrance quickly!

Liquid Beauty Boosters.

Increasing water intake can be one of the quickest ways to achieve dewy and glowing skin. Supercharging water with antioxidant-rich botanicals makes it work even better for you. To really up the ante on hydration, add a teaspoon of Native Collagen Powder to coconut water, add some ice and fresh herbs (coriander or basil). This refreshing treat is not only filled with electrolytes, it is also abundant in Vitamin C, the ultimate skin brightener. Another one of my favourite hydration treats is drinking a tablespoon of Chlorophyll with water. Both are delicious alkalinising and anti-inflammatory treats for your skin and body.

Mask It.

Sleeping masks are literally an overnight beauty fix when it comes to dull, red or lacklustre skin. I love using the Edible Beauty & Coco Bliss Intensive Repair to boost the plumpness of the skin, reduce redness and bring back a youthful glow. Apply this all over the face in the evening as a thick layer and do not remove it. You will wake fresh-faced and in awe of this miracle mask. The secret ingredients in this mask include ceramides, B vitamins and Vitamin E which work to repair the skin, reduce inflammation and eliminate redness. If acne or sunburn is affecting your golden glow, apply a thicker layer of Botanical Water Gel as a leave-on mask at night. Aloe gel, Cucumber, Calendula and Chamomile in this blend work to calm the skin, balance oil production and heal scarring and sunburn.

Sweat It Out.

Whether it be hitting the gym, having an infra-red sauna or sweating it out at the beach, building up a sweat is a wonderful glow-giving gift for your skin. It allows the skin pores to open which releases the build up inside them. Toxins that can clog pores and plague the skin with pimples and blemishes are purged through the action of sweating. Circulation is also increased to the peripheries and skin cells which boost skin cell turnover. The result, dewy smooth and glowing skin. I recommend  30 minutes of any exercise that builds up a sweat or 20 minutes in an infra-red sauana.

Bright Eyed.

Bright eyes can be the key to an overall healthy and vibrant complexion. Giving your eyes a pick me up is as easy as a providing them with a caffeine hit. Dip cotton pads in iced black coffee and apply over closed lids for 10 to 20 minutes. Caffeine found in both coffee acts to constrict blood vessels to diminish discolouration and reduce puffiness. The coffee in our & Gold Rush Eye Cream has strong anti-inflammatory action to reduce puffiness around the eye area while increasing circulation to brighten dark circles. & Gold Rush Eye Cream also contains pure 24K Gold Leaf, which imparts radiance, aids in the reduction of fine lines and wrinkles and works to visibly reduce the appearance of dark circles.

Put Your Glow On.

Sometimes we need a bit of an extra help when it comes to healthy, bronzed and vibrant skin. I don’t often recommend tanning products due to the many “off-limits” ingredients in them however, Wotnot’s Organic Self Tan Mousse is the perfect pure tanning formula, and one that we fully endorse.

Containing Australiam Kakadu Plum, Camellia and Aloe Vera Extract, it provides the ultimate bronzing action, sans the toxins!

Smooth operator.

Not all exfoliators are created equal! Our Desert Lime Micro-exfoliant promises smooth and silky skin, without the irritation and pigmentation that can come with acids and peels. Using gentle rice beads, cellulose and Australian wattleseed, along with natural brightening fruit extracts, our micro-exfoliant works to instantly smooth and brighten skin.
